We are currently seeking a full time Medical Assistant to join our Triage Team at Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida. Applicants not having Medical assistant experience, may have alternate experience such as CNA, EMT, Phlebotomist, LPN, RN to apply. The Triage Associate is responsible for answering all incoming calls to our triage line for post-operative patients.  If you possess the following, we'd love to hear with you! 

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Certified as Medical Assistant, LPN, EMT is desired
• Basic understanding of medical terminology
• Basic knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology
• Knowledge of medical diagnosis preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills 
• Basic understanding of HIPAA
• Ability to multitask in a busy work environment
• Knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, fax machine, scanner, and computer
• Team player with a positive attitude 
• Understanding of basic, medical terminology preferred
• Working knowledge of EMR

Requirements

 Some duties of the Triage Associate may include: 

• Answer all incoming calls promptly and courteously.
• Providing high level customer service to our patients.
• Follow established processes, protocols and department procedures.
• Meet or exceed established key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Verify patient demographic information including address and phone numbers our EMR system and update information as appropriate.
• Document patient charts with conversations and next steps.
• Scan and fax documents, uploading them to the patient’s chart in EMR.
• Evaluate each patient to establish understanding of concerns related to their recovery and escalate to practitioner when necessary.
• Create patient appointments, per provider’s request.
• Serve as the liaison for patient communication and updates related to their care.
• Fax orders to external imaging, physical therapy/ occupational therapy appointments, etc. per practitioner request.
• Perform other duties or tasks as requested.
• May be cross trained in other positions and will provide support as needed.

Schedule: Full Time - Monday through Friday with availability between 7am and 5pm (actual hours will vary)
